For more powerful installations you can have a complete parallel hybrid in each hull, this gives you two propulsion engine, two electric drives and two generators. With four independent means of propulsion and two generators, this offers a high level of redundancy.
Alternative configurations involve fitting a complete parallel hybrid in one hull and an electric drive + batteries in the second hull. The weight of the batteries can be the same as the engine/fuel tank and you have eliminated the requirement for a separate generator. This configuration has the potential for the hybrid system to be lower in weight/cost than the conventional twin diesel + generator installation.
